The Perfect Fit

A common concern among new wig wearer is, "How will my wig stay on my head?"

Visions of being caught in a bareheaded situation can give a person nightmares. Today we will talk about the ways we recommend to keep the wig securely on your head.       First, getting the right fit is important for both comfort and security. A wig that is too big wont sit snuggly on the head. Everyone has preferences on how big or small of a cap they prefer, its ok to wear a looser cap while keeping these guidelines in mind.       Freeda Wigs come in size small, medium and large.
  • Small wigs are 21" in circumference
  • Medium is 22" in circumference
  • Large is 23" in circumference

Guidelines for Determining your Size

Forehead to Nape

Start the tape from the center of the front of your hairline, to the hairline at the nape of the neck. If you have little or no hair, lay your index, third, and ring finger flat against your forehead just about at the brow bone. At the top of the three fingers would be a good straight point. Measure until about an inch below the small bone at the bottom of the skull.

Ear to Ear

Lay the end of the tape about a half inch above your little crease (where glasses rest) at the top of your ear between the ear and the head. Bring the tape across the top of your head to meet the other ear, without touching the ear, at the same point.

Circumference

Start the tape at your hairline at the center of your forehead. Run the tape around, behind the ears, passing your hairline at the nape of the neck, and back up to the middle of your forehead.

Temple to Temple

Start at your temple, and bring tape measure around the back of your head to reach the other temple.

By now you're probably a professional, your wig fits snuggly without giving you a headache and is tight enough not to slip off with simple wear. If you are wondering what to do if you are in between sizes, just like shoes we recommend sizing up. Freeda wigs have elastic tabs to slightly tighten or loosen your cap.

Clips and Combs

Clips and combs are put inside the wig to give you further security. We recommend a comb at the forehead and 2 clips at the ears. There are those who prefer less and those who prefer more. As you start enjoying your wig you will determine what feels best to you.

WigClips

FreedaBand

The FreedaBand can best be described as No clips, No slips! The FreedaBand is an accessory worn under the wig which will keep the wig snug and secure with no need for clips or additional securities. The FreedaBand is soft and comfortable, some people love it so much they ask us to sew the band into their wigs. The FreedaBand can be viewed on Freeda.com.

Adhesives

Some feel most comfortable with glue and tape as a means for securing the cap. Glue and tape come in all ranges of hold. There is light hold for those who lead a mostly sedentary lifestyle all the way to super strong hold for those who play tennis. If you think you'd feel most comfortable with this method, also test the adhesives for sensitivities by placing a small amount on your arm. If there is any itching or redness try an adhesive meant for sensitive skin.       With the right security any type of activity such as swimming, hiking or running can be done with comfort. Appointments at the Freeda showroom can be made to speak to a professional who  can advise on the best type of security to meet your needs, or any other wig inquire.       For questions or appointment call 718-771-2000 or visit our website at Freeda.com
