Advice for First Time Wig Wearers
It’s hard to know how to know the ins and outs of wig wearing when you first get started. Lots of the knowledge comes from wearing the wig and figuring out the little tips and tricks as you go along. If you feel like something just isn’t right you might want to see if our tips below help you get your wig looking in tip top shape.
The Fit
Does the wig fit properly from ear to ear?
Your wig might fit properly in the circumference and from forehead to nape, but the temple to temple fit is also important. The perfect fit is when the temples, ear tabs and nape of the wig all sit in the right spots. Even a ¼ inch off can make a difference. If the wig doesn’t fit the way it should it can slide around, causing the hairline to sit in the wrong place. Make sure the wig fits well and sits in the right spot, if it doesn’t just contact us; it’s an easy fix with big results.
Securing the Wig
Next- if the fit is perfect but you are securing it incorrectly the hairline will be off. To get the wig in the right spot just grab the two ear tabs and make sure they are even before you secure the wig on your head.
Tying the Hair Underneath
When you wear the wig, the way you tie the hair underneath will make a lot of difference on how natural the wig looks. A ponytail or bun in the wrong place adds a bump to the shape of the wig. Depending on how much hair you have you’ll need to experiment on what works best. Some like to make a low braid or pony and use a flat clip to secure the hair around the side of the head. Some make a flat bun at the nape of the neck. Some like to have an opening at the nape of the neck and pull the hair through the bottom of the wig.
