Prism Hair – Would you try it?

Prism Hair – Would you try it?

We’ve seen dramatic color more frequently in the last year or so. Purple, blue, and green hair which was once reserved for rock stars and such suddenly found its place within the fashionable and chic. It’s a look that wig wearers aren’t quickly adopting, although if you like the look, a wig is a great asset to the trend as it’s a style you get tired of quickly. That’s the beauty of a wig; you can change your hair as much as you want.

We understand the hesitation, especially for those who like to maintain the same consistent style. However, if you feel like you’re missing out on the fun, there’s a fun new trend emerging that allows you to experience this colored hair while still maintaining a professional look.

This trend called “prism hair” is exactly as it sounds. It takes “unicorn hair” and makes it clean and minimalistic. Prism hair is barely noticeable; it’s a little spot of color with the faintest amount of rainbow, as if a light is shining on the hair. It’s blink or you miss it, was it or wasn’t it? The hair will move and it won’t be sure if you imagined the sheen of color or not.

What do you think? Would you try this fun trend? Is it too daring? If you try this color trend or any others please send us the photos! We love seeing our Freeda family having fun with their wigs.

Go for Gold this Spring

Go for Gold this Spring- Hair Color Blog

Dying or highlighting can be a drastic move (think purple, green or blue), or something as subtle as a few face framing highlights. Last year the hair color trends were drastic and more extreme, this season the colors are more low maintenance and casual and feature the color of royalty, gold.

For blondes, ask your colorist to weave different shades of golden blonde highlights that are 2-3 tones lighter than your base shade. The colors should be painted on in thin, random patterns for the most natural look.

If you haven’t tried highlights at all and are curious about trying them, try babylights, a trend we’ve discussed here. Babylights incorporate some color in a very subtle way; they are a perfect way to freshen your color for spring. You can also try a very subtle golden balayage if you want a little more contrast to your color.

Brunettes go for gold this spring as well. Muted golden highlights with subtle shimmering flecks brighten the hair as it adds dimension and shine. Cooler, ashy tones that have been around for so long are slowly making their exit.

We encourage you to “go for gold” this spring, be it in a subtle or more noticeable way. It’s a color that works well with all tones and is very flattering.

New Style Blog- The Danya Long

danyalongblogNew Style Blog- The Danya Long

At Freeda’s we recently added a few styles to our Collection to satisfy the needs of our clients. One of our new styles is the Danya Long.

Here is some background on the Danya. The Danya has been part of the Freeda Collection for many years. It is one of the original wigs that Freeda manufactured. Freeda called the wig Danya, the name of a close friend of hers, who has been wearing the style since it first came out.

The “Danya” air dries in a wavy to curly texture, one of the only wigs on the market that is a “wash and wear” style. It’s easy to maintain on your own. Our customers love it, many of whom wore straight wigs because a texture like this was hard to find.  They were so happy to look like themselves again.

The Danya is a shoulder length wig. Before we added the Mimi to our stock, the Danya was the only curly wig in our collection. The Mimi is 18” long. We had a shoulder length curly wig and a long curly wig, but we didn’t have a mid-length wig with that curly texture. The Danya Long, now part of the team, fills the gap between a short and long curly wig, at 15” long.

The multi-directional crown allows the hair to be parted in all directions. A wash and wear style can be easily maintained on your own.  It is quite simple; when the hair is wet use a wide tooth comb to get rid of any knots. Simply use your favorite product for curly hair, and scrunch the hair with your fingers. That is all the Danya Long needs.

If you’d like to wear the wig in a straighter style the Danya Long is also perfect for that. The hair blow dries nicely so the wig can be worn straight, with body, wavy and curly. It can be styled or washed and worn air dried. It’s a very versatile wig.  The texture lends itself well to a set that will hold strongly and for a long time.

Because the wig has light layering people find they need only a bang or some face framing in order to wear the wig. It’s also a great wig for any mid-length hair style. See the Danya Long in our Brooklyn showroom.
